Hilton Head, South Carolina - On Friday, August 11, 2023, Joseph (fondly known as Joe) DeMarco, Jr. of Washington, DC peacefully passed away at the age of 81 in Hilton Head, SC surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born and raised in Washington, DC where he attended Holy Trinity grade school and Western High School. Serving in the Army for two years, stationed in Atlanta, marked a significant chapter in his life before he returned to DC. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Betty.
Following their marriage, Joe and Betty relocated to Rockville, MD. Embracing his entrepreneurial spirit, Joe started a successful wallcovering company alongside his brother. After 25 years they retired to Hilton Head, SC, where he spent the last two decades of his life.
Known for his unwavering support and affection for his friends and family, Joe's presence illuminated the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Joseph DeMarco, his older sisters, Jeanne and Dianne and his son, Jamie Cox. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty DeMarco; sister, Margaret Albright; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Jackie DeMarco; daughter, Shalene DeMarco; daughter and son-in-law, Kendra DeMarco and Tim Ervolina; Son, Gary Cox; Son, Danny Cox; and four grandchildren, Nicole, Nick, Hunter, and Shelby.
A celebration of life will be held in Hilton Head at a later date.

Joe was a dear friend of mine and I am saddened by his passing. We knew each other for over 50 years and during that time maintained a successful personal and business relationship. I have wonderful memories of our travels and the many boat trips we took in the Caribbean. Joe will be missed. My heartfelt condolences go to his family.
