Lillian Beatrice Handford Sneddon

Lillian Beatrice Handford Sneddon, artist, mother of 4, and widow of Donald Richard Sneddon died November 13, 2013. She was born in Charleroi, PA on December 8, 1926 the daughter of Charles William and Beatrice Scott Handford. She was a former beauty queen and won the "Miss Pittsburgh" crown in 1947 and was the eighth runner-up in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City. She worked as a print and fashion model, a tour guide at Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater near Uniontown, PA. She moved to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1981. She was a longtime member of the Hilton Head Art League and participant in "Evening of the Arts" She was a lover of trees, sunrises, jazz and was known for her quick wit and intelligent humor. She was very appreciative and thankful for the care she received at Hilton Head Hospital especially in her last few weeks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Sneddon. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Sneddon of Sewickley, PA, Sue Sneddon of Charlotte, NC, Nancy Lee Sneddon of Charleston, SC, Jo Ann Sneddon of Hilton Head Island, SC; brother, Charles (Marilyn) Handford of Galloway, Ohio; and sister Nancy McChesney of Uniontown, PA.
