Lindsay McKay Obituary

Lindsay Kellah McKay COLUMBIA Lindsay Kellah McKay died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 29, 2016. Lindsay leaves behind her daughter, Haley Kellah DePace of Columbia; her parents, Raymond E. McKay Jr. and Elizabeth Dianne Davis McKay of Beaufort; her sister, Julie Nicole McKay of Beaufort; and her aunt, Joy Davis Hanna of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Belle Rabon Davis and William Allen Davis Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Jean Plowden McKay and Raymond E. McKay Sr. all from Columbia. Lindsay was born in Columbia on March 12, 1979 and attended A.C. Flora High School and Midlands Technical College. She worked as a legal assistant to her father for a time and later as a caregiver. Lindsay loved traveling with her family and was able to visit St. Martin and France during her short life. Artistically gifted, she had a passion for both music and drawing. She adored her cat, Stoney, and spending time with her cousins. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross once stated, "The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle" The challenges Lindsay faced in this world nurtured her already tender heart and fostered in her a special compassion for the elderly, the physically compromised and all those whose lives she touched. She leaves her family with memories of a sweet-spirited young woman who laughed easily and loved genuinely. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, officiated by the Reverend Susan Ulmer of Columbia. The viewing will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Light refreshments will be served following the funeral. Thank you for for leaving us with such a blessing in beautiful, sweet Haley. She is my heart. I love her so. I am so sorry that you could not have been here longer to watch her grow into the beautiful child she is - but I know you are watching from where you are. I see so much of you in her every day. She is such a God-sent gift to us all.
God bless you, my sweet Dissy. We will always love you with all our hearts.

Lindsay, I've just found out today that you've gone home to stay. I can't remember a moment we didn't laugh. Right now all of our memories are a raging river through my heart, and theirs simply no path I know to take. I've looked for you for many years, and this is what I have found horrific pain and tears. We where always together, in some kind of trouble. Stealing your moms sodas () gunner who would always bust us. Playing the piano. You where always SO much better than me. Ugh! Christmas recitals why did we have to wear those red bows? Ice skating rinks, and lake hammocks. The shanagings of kids, that no body, but us know. She's beautiful Lindsey, and I'm sorry you've been robbed of watching her grow. You where my first real friend, and always will be this isn't the actual end. It's till I see you again. Love always, Melanie

I love you to the moon and back!

I am deeply sad to hear about Lindsay. We were very good friends during the years at Crayton Middle School. I remember the first boy she loved, her stunning good looks, and funny moments we shared filled with laughter. She adored her grandmother. Lindsay had the most amazing family. I loved being around Lindsay mother too. I was lucky to have been invited on a trip to Garden City with her family. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting Lindsay daughter one day. Please know my heart goes out to all of you. Love, Jane Preston Zulli (Moore)

I can't imagine the feelings going on within your hearts. I can't begin to understand your grief. I do understand the love of a child but not the loss. May God shine down on you and your family in time of tragedy .

It's hard for us as humans to go thru life's valleys. We have to trust that God knows what's best for all of us as his children and makes no mistakes. Lindsay was His before she was yours and He has called her home. What better place could she be ? Nevertheless, we will miss them, your heartache will flow thru your tears while your
memories shine thru your smiles !

Thinking and praying for you during this most difficult time.
With love and respect, Freida
