Peggy was the maid of honor and only attendant at my wedding in Cambridge, Mass., on Jan. 17, 1959. She and I were both "Danny Grads" of 1956, a program of the Danforth Foundation. We were fairly close friends for a long time. She was one of the most highly ethical and highly responsible people I have ever known. I'm sorry we hadn't been able to see each other in recent years.

Peggy was simply an exemplary human being in every relationship and every aspect of her life. The world is a better place for her having been among us. She lived a wonderful, rewarding long life. May we all do as well.

Peggy was a vibrant active church & community member in Charleston and someone I was privileged to call my friend. We shared many thoughtful discussions, visits, & meals with a close knit group of like-minded women. Her dedication to helping others and loyalty to friends will never be forgotten. When she moved to Beaufort, I missed her presence but managed to stay in touch through intermittent phone calls and emails. Final goodbyes are difficult, but Peggy lived a good life and has earned her rest.

Peggy was, at heart, a good person and a pleasure to work with. She took the initiative and saw things through and believed in historic preservation and education.
