Milton Kirby

1943 - 2025

Milton Wiley "Chatta" Kirby, much-loved son, husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at YourLife Memory Care in Parkland FL.

Milton was born March 7, 1943, in Birmingham AL to Milton Wiley Kirby, Jr. of Collinsville, AL and Lucille "Lucy" Smith Kirby, Wetumpka, AL. His early childhood was spent in Knoxville and Chattanooga, TN before graduating Northside High School, Atlanta GA in 1961. As a 1965 University of Georgia graduate, Milton received a BS in Political Science and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. His business career was focused on computer/equipment sales and leasing.

In 1969, Milton married Judy Nuckolls Kirby, from Toccoa GA., also a 1965 University of GA graduate. They are the loving parents of Matthew Kirby (Jean Gillham Kirby) of Atlanta and Liza Kirby Gressle (Charles Gressle) of Parkland FL, and seven grandchildren. Milton and Judy moved to Hilton Head Island in 2002, to fulfill a lifelong dream, then to Dallas TX in 2016, and to Parkland FL in 2019, to be near family.

Milton will be remembered for his deep and abiding Christian faith and his devotion and loyalty to friends, loved ones and family. Although he enjoyed a party as much or more than anyone else, Milton was the quiet one who kept everyone in stitches with his dry sense humor and wit while others took the spotlight. He passionately loved his family and his Lord. We believe we heard him whisper his last words, "Go Dawgs."

A memorial service honoring Milton's life will be held Saturday, November 22, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island, SC, The Reverend Greg Kronz officiant.
