Miriam Meulemans Terry

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina - Miriam Meulemans Terry was born on September 14th, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan to Charlotte and Charles Meulemans. She graduated from Almont MI High School and Central Michigan University in 1969. Miriam also studied at Texas State University, Southern Methodist University and was a graduate of the Army Adjutant Generals Advance Course. Commissioned as an Army Second Lieutenant, she had duty stations in Nevada, Alabama, and Germany. After she left active duty as a Captain, she was selected as one of 5,000 Army Reserve Officers worldwide deemed Top Stars thus returning to active duty in Maryland, Germany, and Washington, DC.

As the family relocated, she proved to be a role-model Army wife helping soldiers and their families while raising her family and working at varied times for Catholic Social Services and other non-profit organizations providing support to the needy, disadvantaged, and immigrant communities. She was an active CCD instructor and volunteer in her sons' many schools in various roles. Miriam's Hallmark was finding those in need and quietly without fanfare providing support, advice, and assistance.

Miriam was proceeded in death by her parents Charles and Charlotte Meulemans, her sister Marie- Louise Meulemans, and her son, John Terry. She is survived by her husband of 50 years William B. Terry; sons William C. and his daughter Artemis of Portland, Oregon; Joseph (Allison) and their daughters Charlotte, Quinn, and Molly of River Forest, Illinois; and her sister, Charline Meulemans of San Diego, California

Visitation will be held at the Island Funeral Home on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 2-4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church.
