Ryan Montgomery Obituary

Ryan Spence Montgomery
November 21, 1974 - December 4, 2022
Greenville, South Carolina - Ryan Spence Montgomery, 48, devoted husband of 22 years to Lee Anne Montgomery, went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 4, 2022.
He was born in Columbia, SC and raised in Hilton Head, SC.
Ryan and Lee Anne met while attending Clemson University. They married and started their life together. Ryan loved to travel and always had a fabulous family vacation planned. He was full of energy and enjoyed finding a new hobby; scuba diving, obtaining is pilot's license, photography, playing guitar and hunting and fishing with his boys. Ryan loved being a dad and never missed an opportunity to be on the field as a coach or assisting the team just to be near his boys.
Ryan started his own law firm thirteen years ago, Ryan Montgomery Law. He ran his law practice with purpose where he felt he could make a difference. Ryan was dedicated to helping others. He received many legal accolades over his career but was never one to boast about his accomplishments. For Ryan, one of his greatest accomplishments did not come by way of profession but by way of personal achievement.
A humble and thoughtful man, he would do anything for anyone. Ryan was incredibly kind and caring, always making others feel loved and valued. Ryan was strong, resilient, brave and a brilliant man who cherished his wife and children. Ryan had an incredible joy for life and family.
Ryan was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Ryan's legacy will forever be cherished in the hearts of his wonderful wife, Lee Anne; and his three children who he adored, Jackson Spence, Alexander Quinn, and Chapman Banks Montgomery; mother, Barbara Dunn of Hilton Head, uncle, Paul Montgomery and his wife, Karen of Churchville, VA; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Dianne Jones, two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Smith and her husband, Andrew, and Tera Jones; nephew and neice, Mason and Whitney Smith.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall followed by the funeral service in the sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 225 Halton Road, Greenville, SC 29607

I worked with Ryan during the period what he was a triathlete. It was so competitive in his work and also athletically. He had such a great sense of humor. He's now in the presence of the Lord. Bet he is
telling Him lawyer jokes.

Condolences to the family!

I was honored to know Ryan and to do work for him, and have him do work for me. We shared great stories and shared an interest in music. He was always so upbeat and just an all around great guy!

I followed his battle, and was brought to tears knowing he was suffering, yet, managed to get out and experience life at the same time, always putting his family first.

We have art from Ryan that we will always cherish and remember him when we look at it.

God bless your family and friends.

I was stunned and saddened to hear of Ryan´s passing. Ryan hired me when I was doing handyman work to make ends meet and, as anyone who knows Ryan would expect, we became friends. Ryan and Lee Anne treated me as if we had been friends our whole lives from the moment I met them. We all lost a truly good and kind man in Ryan and my and my family´s thoughts are with the Montgomery family.

Otis and I are so very sorry for your loss. Ryan was a good man and a good friend to our son Clay. Clay thought the world of him. We will always remember how good he was to him.
