Vanessa Lorraine Gilliard

Vanessa Lorraine GilliardBeaufort, SC - Vanessa Lorraine Gilliard 49 of Beaufort, daughter of Leroy H. and Thelma M. Gillliard, died March 11, 2013 at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1963 in Argentina, Newfoundland (Canada). Being a part of a military family Vanessa attended primary school in Subic Bay in the Philippines. In 1972, the family moved to Beaufort, SC where she attended the local public schools and was a 1981 graduate of Beaufort High School. At Beaufort High she lettered in Band and participated and performed in all of the school's band activities. She was a flute and piano player as well as a Girl Scout. As a Girl Scout, she attained the highest attainable rank of First Class. She was a graduate of Hampton University with a Bacherlor's degree in Accounting. She was employed as a budget clerk aboard the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island and was a former accounting clerk at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. At an early age she was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church and attended until going away to college. Upon her return to Beaufort, she joined Community Bible Church where she was active in the Nursery Ministry. She is survived by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Tiffany Gilliard of Washington, DC; uncles, Fred (Ida) Gilliard of Georgetown, SC, David and Benjamin (Danielle) Gilliard of Los Angeles, CA and Roland (Delphine) Gilliard of Beaufort, SC; aunts, Parrie Lee Jones of Georgetown, SC, Vera Gilliard of Little Rock, AK and Geraldine Stallings of Walterboro,SC; special "Uncle and Aunt", Bill and Barbara Marshel; a host of loving cousins and friends. Funeral Services: 11:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2013 at Community Bible Church, Beaufort. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions may be made to the nursery at Community Bible Church in remembrance of Vanessa Gilliard PO Box 119 Beaufort, SC Attn: Nursery/Children's Ministry.
