Walter Rudolph Golec

Walter Rudolph Golec of Beaufort, SC passed away June 3rd, 2014. Wally was born February 16th, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Hammond, Indiana and at the age of 17, he joined The United States Marine Corps, serving two terms in Vietnam and retiring in 1980. After serving his country, he worked for SC DHEC and retired from there as well. For the past eight years, he worked part-time for Coca-Cola. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Takako Taira Golec. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen Eichman Golec and John Golec, his brother Carl Golec, and a grandson Renn Golec. He is survived by five children: daughter, Carol Golec Williams (Glenn), son Carl Golec (Robyn), son John Golec (Patricia), son Rudolph Golec (Susan), and daughter Karen Golec Harlow (Dave), and niece Stacey Golec Paul (Kevin). He was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Sam, Megan, Lanie, Cody, Kristina, Nicole, Andrew, Renn, Taylor, Brittany, and Sydney. Visitation will be held Monday June 9, 2014 from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in Beaufort National Cemetery with honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to DAV Chapter 12, P.O.
