Barbara Scheffler Obituary

Nurse who enjoyed gardening and tennisSWAMPSCOTT - Barbara M. (Stelchook) Scheffler, age 71, of Swampscott, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 1, 2012 in her home. She was the wife of Frank L. Scheffler, and the daughter of the late Maurice and Anne Stelchook. Born in Peabody, Barbara was raised in Florida and Newburyport. She lived in Swampscott most of her life, She was married to Frank on April 11, 1964 and together they raised their family. An active communicant of St. Anne's Church in Salem she was a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at church bazaars. She also did private duty nursing and worked at the Mary Alley Hospital in Marblehead.She enjoyed gardening, tennis, traveling, casinos, knitting and shopping. She reveled in memories of summers on Plum Island when she was young. Most of all, Barbara adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She delighted in attending their sporting events, taking them shopping, bowling and on family vacations. She was loved by all who knew for her incredible energy and enthusiasm for life.Besides her husband Frank, Barbara is survived by her children, John Scheffler and his wife Kristen of Swampscott; Louise McNulty and her husband Tom of Danvers; and Kathryn Mastrangelo and her husband Vito of Danvers; grandchildren, Emily, Tommy and Julia McNulty and Lily Mastrangelo; her brother Maurice Stelchook and his wife Carol of Beverly and her sister Patsy Murphy of Newburyport. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and was the mother of the late Joanne Scheffler, who died in 2008.Service Information: Her funeral Mass will be held in St. Anne's Church in Salem on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by interment in Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G.
