Doris K. Melanson

Cared for the elderly, loved to travelSAUGUS-Doris K. (Barker) Melanson, age 80, of Saugus, formerly of Marblehead and Lynn, died Saturday at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, after being stricken suddenly. She was the wife of the late Laurie "Larry" Melanson and the daughter of the late George and Eva (Doane) Barker. Born and raised in Lynn, she lived many years in Lynn, before moving to Marblehead the Saugus in recent years. She was educated in Lynn schools and worked as a custodian for the city of Lynn School department. She also worked for Witts End Caring for the Elderly. Doris was a slot machine enthusiast and loved to travel. She also loved being with her family. Doris was a member of the Moose Lodge in Salem, the Franco American Veterans Auxiliary and the American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees.She is survived by her son Bruce Goodwin of Ocean City, MD, daughters Janet Navaroli of Danvers & Laurie Santora of Revere; brothers George Barker of Seminole, FL, Frank of Rochester, NH and John of Lynn; grandchildren Stacey Navaroli, Jason Barker, Todd Goodwin, Kristen Barker Thomas Belschner, Joshua Goodwin and Joseph Belshner; great grandchildren Nathan Navaroli, Brady Goodwin and Lillian Mauras. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claire Bonardi and James Barker.Service Information: Funeral services will be held in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited.
