Edward C. Herrera, 53

1968 - 2022

Lynn, MA - Edward Charles "Ed" Herrera, age 53 and lifelong resident of Lynn, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 24, 2022. Born in Melrose in 1968, he was the loving son of the late Arthur and Antonetta (Zahar) Herrera. He was raised in Lynn, attended Lynn Woods Elementary School, Pickering Jr. High School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1986 where he was a star football player and also played hockey. Ed went on to play football at Boston University and Framingham State College, where he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Business. He worked as a sales representative at INAP in Somerville and had previously worked at XTechnology Global, Omni Presence and others. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Patriots and enjoyed playing golf. He enjoyed country music, classic movies and taking his children to the beach. Ed was a loyal friend to his many friends that he enjoyed spending time with and was a devoted father to his beloved children A.J. and Catherine, who he loved more than anything.

He was the beloved father of Arthur "A.J." Herrera and Catherine Herrera both of Lynn and caring brother of to his sisters Kathleen Bourassa and her husband Shawn of Tennessee and Maria (Herrera) Gilchrist and her boyfriend Ron Guile of Alton, NH. He was also deeply cared for by his former wife Jennifer Ciampi of Boxford. Ed is also survived by his nieces Samantha Gilchrist and Kelsey Brogley, his nephew Cameron Gilchrist and his many dear friends including, John Benson, Michael O'Connor, Stan Nerich, Danny Pereira, Jim Fallon and the late Erik Neenan.

Service Information: A Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 9a.m. from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St. (Rt. 1A), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 10a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and are required to wear a face mask while inside the funeral home and church. My deepest condolences for the incredible loss of this great man. Ed was loved by all who worked with him. For me, that was ~20 years ago at MCI. He lit up the room with his energy and attitude and his loss is felt across all those years. Godspeed Ed.
