Gene Doughty Obituary

Gene P. Doughty, 77
1947 - 2024
Peabody - Gene P. Doughty, 77, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jo Ann (Wynne) Doughty with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
He was born in Lynn on May 10, 1947 and was the cherished son of the late William and Mabelle (Friedline) Doughty.
Gene moved to Peabody in middle school and was a 1964 graduate of Peabody High School. After attending Salem State College, he served honorably in the Navy during Vietnam.
If you knew Gene, you knew of his love for comic books, TV, and especially, music.
He was a skilled instrumentalist, who, in his younger days, played with bands in venues across New England. His passion for music was reignited later in life, where you were likely to find him strumming his guitar with his bandmates at Wakefield Lake or at numerous restaurants around the North Shore.
In addition to his adoring wife, Jo Ann, Gene is survived by his two sons, William Doughty and his wife Leah of Londonderry, NH and James Doughty and his wife Krista of Peabody; his grandchildren, Gavin, Sarah, Jackson, Grace, Gabrielle and Gwyneth; his sister, Diane Shah and her husband Gregory of NH; his sister-in-law, Karen Ralphs of NH; his brother-in-law, Thomas Wynne and his wife Jean of Peabody; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sadly, in addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Katherine Burke.
Service Information: Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 2PM to 5PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene's memory to the Londonderry High School Lancers Friends of Music by visiting www.lancermusic.org.

So sorry to hear of Gene's passing. We played and sang together in several bands. His musicianship and wit were always on. He will be missed.
