Gerard A. Simard

NEW DURHAM, N.H . -- Mr. Gerard A. "Gerry"? Simard , age 76, of New Durham, N.H., died Friday in Frisbie Memorial Hospital . He had a lifelong relationship, then marriage with the love of his life, Evelyn I. Simard. Born and raised in Salem , he was the son of the late Allard and Laurentia (Harvey) Simard. He had lived in Lebanon, Maine, for 34 years and Jay, Maine, for 10 years before moving to New Durham, N.H., in 2015. Gerry served in the United States Army from 1961-1964. He enjoyed his position as rigger and his fellow employees at the Boston and Maine Shipyards. He was also a construction worker during the 1960's. He was a member of the American Legion , Post #0019 in Sanford, Maine. He loved his hunting dogs and competitive field trials, winning many ribbons. He enjoyed hunting in Maine and New Hampshire. Gerry had a cattle farm in Lebanon, Maine,  for 35 years with over 50 acres of beautiful countryside. He and his wife Evelyn spent many happy times with friends dancing the night away at the Yankee Club in Peabody . In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael Bouchard of Peabody, his daughter; Deborah Prince of Derry, N.H.; his brother; Paul Simard and his wife Paula of Beverly; his sister-in-law; Donna Simard of Chicago, Ill.; his life-long friends; Ed Maraffa of Alton, N.H. and Joe Michaud of Rochester, N.H.; as well as his niece; Elizabeth Leferbre and her husband Chris of North Attleboro. He was the brother of the late Alice Macek, Moe Simard, and Gloria Simard; and son-in-law of the late Charles R. and Irene F. Nelson. Service information: His funeral will be held on Thursday at 12 p.m. in the SOLIMINE Funeral Home , 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery , Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., prior to the funeral.
