James McGovern Obituary
Lynnfield - James Patrick McGovern Jr., 84, of Lynnfield, passed away on December 11, 2020. Beloved husband of 52 years to Arlene (McCormack) McGovern. Devoted and loving father to Maureen (Bucell) and adoring grandfather to June and Nola. Son of the late James P. McGovern and Mary (Murphy) McGovern. Brother to the late Lawrence McGovern and Patricia O'Leary. He is survived by his brother Joseph of Lewiston, ME, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Lynn on August 24th, 1936. He received his Bachelor's degree from Merrimack College and his Masters from Boston University. He worked for many years at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank until he retired. Jim was very involved in his church community and a long time parish member of St. Maria Goretti in Lynnfield. His parish recognized his contributions by nominating him for the Chevris award, which he received in 2017.
Service Information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway, Lynn on Sunday, 1-3.Adhering to current guidelines a maximum of 40 people at any one time are allowed in the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Maria Goretti, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield on Monday at 10am. Face coverings & proper social distancing will be required. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com
