Jeannette Foley Obituary

Financial secretary for Revere schoolsREVERE - Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 20th, 2013 from 4 n 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Jeannette (Connors) Foley, who died on Friday, May 17th at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere, following a long illness, at 91 years. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, May 21st at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.Born & raised in Oak Island, Revere, she was a 1939 alumna of Revere High School. She & her family were life-long supporters & devotees of the former St. Theresa Church of Revere. She spent over 30 years in the employ of the Revere School System as their Financial Secretary. Although Jeannette & her late husband, Jeremiah A. Foley, considered themselves life-long residents of Revere, they lived in Haverhill for over 25 years in the 50s & 60s because of Jerry's employment with John Hancock Life Insurance. Jerry died in September of 1980.Both Jeannette & her sister, Marie "ReRe," will long be remembered for their infamous daily walks on Revere Beach Boulevard. For over 20 years "The Sisters" would begin their walk at 8:30 a.m. from their home on Cary Ave., & make the total 4-mile walk daily. You could not help but notice the "Duo:" their perfectly coiffured hair, the "Vogue" outfits, & all the accessories that made them unique & elegant. This continued well into Jeannette's mid-80s, when her health began to decline. Jeannette was a devout Catholic, attended mass regularly, & often maintained a beautiful home, was an avid reader, an interesting conversationalist & especially was dedicated & devoted to her entire family & their needs. She is the devoted mother of Karen M. Epler & her husband, Grant O. Epler, of Lynnfield. She is the dear sister of Marie H. "ReRe" (Connors) Capodilupo & her husband Justin P. of Revere, & the late Thomas D. Connors & the late Jacqueline V. "Jackie" Grenda. She is the Cherished grandmother of Scott A. Epler & his wife Maryalice of Biddeford, ME, Danielle M. Junkins & her husband Todd of East Bridgewater, & the late Grant P. Epler. She is also lovingly survived by her great-granddaughters, Sara M. & Kacy N. Junkins, her sister-in-law Rose Connors of Lynn, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Jeannette was predeceased by her niece, Jean M. Maguire & her brother-in-law, Frank M. Grenda. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center, 204 Proctor Ave., Revere, MA 02151, ATTN: Patients' Activities Fund.
