John Murdoch Obituary

Engineer, G.E. foremanJohn F. Murdoch, 91, formerly of Lynn, died December 18, 2007, at his daughter's home in Fawnskin, CA, following a lengthy illness. Born in Cohoes, NY; he was the son of the late John F. and Mabel (Felt) Murdoch, Sr.John was raised in Saugus, graduated Saugus High School, and continued his education at M.I.T. He was a graduate of the General Electric apprentice program.Mr. Murdoch, a resident of Lynn since 1939, had recently moved to California to be with his daughter. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Ahlquist) Murdoch.John had been a foreman at General Electric at the Riverworks, Building 74 location for over forty years, retiring in 1980.He was a member of the Foreman's Association at G.E., the Sierra Club, a life member of Bethlehem Lodge of Mason's, receiving his fifty year veteran's medal in 2005, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Member. Mr. Murdoch loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting the National Parks throughout the U.S.; his favorite being Yosemite. He also enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas.He was the father of Bonnie Jean Terenzi of Greenland, NH, John A. Murdoch of Lynn and Elsa L. Murdoch of Fawnskin, CA. He is also survived by a sister Lillian Murdoch, a niece and a nephew, all of NH, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Those desiring may send a memorial tribute to the Sierra Club or to the Nature's conservancy.SERVICE INFORMATION: A memorial service will be held in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington Street, Lynn, on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 12 noon. Relatives and friends invited.
