Joseph McDonough Obituary
Nahant - Joseph P. "Peter" McDonough Jr., age 79 of Nahant, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (O'Connor) McDonough. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1962, and was a resident of Nahant for his entire life, except during the 20years he served in the Navy.
A Retired Navy Veteran, he had served from 1963 – 1983 on various ships, including the USS Randolph and the USS Lexington, from which he retired as a Boiler Technician Petty Officer 1st Class.
After his retirement from the service he moved back to Nahant and served as a technician at various area companies. Peter was an avid golfer and was a member of Kelley Greens in Nahant. He also enjoyed traveling with friends on golf trips to other states throughout the country.
Peter is survived by his son Paul and his wife Mary of Lynn, his grandchildren Ian and Sean, and his daughter Pamela Pari and her husband Adam of Wakefield, his siblings Larry McDonough of Nahant and Martha Koscielecki and her husband Ed of Nahant, as well as his nieces Karen Lamphier and her husband Ed, Kelly Joyce and her husband Ben, and Kim Koscielecki and their children Sam, Selia, Kyle, Luke and Isabella. He also leaves many cousins and friends.
Service Information: His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00AM from the Solimine Funeral Home 67 Ocean St. (RTE1A), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00PM-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com

I'm so sad to learn of Peter's
passing.
In Nahant's inaugural Little League season, Peter and I played on the Yankees, coached by his dad Joe. We also played on the same Babe Ruth team the Tigers.
Peter was a smart baseball player.
Anyone who knew him will dearly miss him.

Please accept our condolences on the passing of Peter. We saw him frequently at Kelley´s and loved his quick wit and sense of humor. The golf course will never be the same. Pete will be missed by all his friends from Encore. I loved sitting beside him at the black jack table and doing our little dance in the chair when we hit, match the dealer for 1 black chip.
