Lynn - Joseph A. Wescott, age 89 years formerly of Lynn died Monday, July 31st at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen after a brief illness. He was the husband of Joan (Szafranski) Wescott with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Lloyd G. and Ellen (Barr) Wescott. Joe attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1953. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1953 – 1967. Joe was employed as a firefighter for the City of Lynn for many years until he retired in 1981. He received the Rotary Club of Lynn Fireman of the Year award in 1973. He was a member of the former Golden Fleece Lodge A. F. & A. M. in Lynn, and a member of Ascendus Lodge A. F. & A. M.
Joe and his wife Joan enjoyed spending winters at their home in Naples, FL for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Joseph A. Wescott and his wife Joanne of Hilton Head, SC, Mark L. Wescott and Debra Vernava of Tewksbury, MA, Lori J. Cashman and her husband Christopher of East Kingston, NH, seven grandchildren Amanda (Wescott) Phipps and her husband Warner, Shane Wescott and his wife Kate, Madison Wescott and Mark Scribner, Cole Wescott, Michael Cashman and his wife Brittany, Corbin Cashman and Christina Cashman, many nieces and nephews and one great-granddaughter Payton Scribner.
Service Information: A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Toscana Ristorante, 3 Bourbon Street, Peabody, MA 11am-2pm. Please make memorial donations in Joe's name to St Jude's Research Hospital for Children at stjude.org Guest book at parkermemorialfuneralhome.com

Joe Westcott, we were friends since 1942. We first met at Camp Rotary and were instant Buddies until you decided to go to Heaven, where you so richly belong. Our friendship lasted many years and will continue on in my memories of you and the wonderful woman, Joan, as your loving Wife, and friend.
You were a wonderful father and I am proud to say you were m close friend.
