Maria DePrizito Obituary

Maria R. (Capone) DePrizito, 94
1931 - 2025
Salem - Maria R. (Capone) DePrizito, age 94, of Salem, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph D. DePrizito, with whom she shared nearly 67 joyful years of marriage until his passing in 2016.
Born in Long Island, New York, Marie was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Accomando) Capone. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1948. In 2001, she and Joe moved to Salem, where they continued to build a vibrant life and a loving home.
Marie and Joe were the proud owners of Marie's Italian Sub Shop and Joe D's Italian Kitchen, beloved neighborhood staples near Classical High School in Lynn. Their restaurant was more than a place eat, it was a place where people felt welcomed, nourished, and cared for. Marie's warmth and hospitality were felt by everyone who walked through the door.
A passionate advocate for others, Marie dedicated herself to service. She was a member of the League of Women Voters and volunteered with Catholic Charities, My Brother's Table, and many other organizations. She played a key role in forming the citizens committee for Project Cope, and through her mentoring and counseling, she helped countless individuals find hope and direction.
In addition to dedicating herself to service, Marie was an incredibly gifted Italian baker. She made the best homemade pasta fagioli, raviolis and pizzelles. She was also a beautiful writer and was most proud of having a poem published in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston.
Marie was a woman of deep faith and devoted her life to God, she had boundless compassion, and strength. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always ready to listen. Her love of being a grandmother was a rare and precious gift to her granddaughters. She was also a loving "second Mother" of many and had a gift for making people feel seen and valued. She offered her wisdom freely and without judgment. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love and faith.
She is survived by her loving children, Richard DePrizito and Linda Anderson; her cherished twin granddaughters, Kelsey Anderson and Cassandra Roy and her husband Adam; and great-grandchildren, Remy and Max. She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law, John DePrizito and his wife Sandy, Frank DePrizito, and Joe Ciota; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Margaret Ciota and Giaconda "Connie" Capone.
Service Information: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11:30AM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30AM-11:30AM, prior to the service. Donations may be made in Marie's honor to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com

My sincerest condolences on the loss of Marie. I remember both Marie and Joe. I was a student at LCHS. I saw them every morning for 3 school years. They were beacons of light and most definitely great people. May she fly high with the angels.
