Poppy Sotis Obituary
1936 - 2023
Peabody - Poppy Sotis of Peabody died peacefully early Sunday morning. She was the devoted wife of Louis P. Sotis of Peabody. Born in Lynn on July 23,1936, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Kallias.
Poppy leaves her two sisters, Doris and her husband Nicholas Copoulos of Westwood, and Julie (and the late Michael) Stroumbos of Lynn, her sister in-law Eleni Soteris of Cambridge, her children, Nancy Sotis of West Peabody and the late Paul Sotis of Acton, Maine, her daughter in-law, Sharon Sebok of Willimantic CT, and cherished granddaughter Grace Sotis, of West Peabody
Poppy also leaves behind her niece Linda Alto and family, her nephews Arthur Copoulos of NH and John Copoulos and family of VT. She had many cousins and friends who will be dearly missed including Katherine Brown, Anthony Ciampa, Peggy, Ralph, Bess, Mina, Steve & Althea Zaimes, Nicholas Avtges and the late Marion Avtges.
Poppy was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School and earned her RN from Salem School of Nursing along with her BS from Boston University. She worked as a nurse in both medical and mental health settings in hospitals and nursing homes. She advocated for her beliefs as a Board Member with Communities United Inc. and was a member of the League of Women Voters. Poppy joined a bus group during Desert Storm to protest in Washington.
She enjoyed swimming, was a nature lover and world traveler seeing the sights of Greece, Italy, Russia, Africa, Alaska, and more. Poppy was a strong willed, passionate, determined, and accomplishment oriented spiritual woman who devoted her life to who and what she cared about and believed in.
Service Information:
Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. For directions and on-line obituary, visit www.ccbfuneral.com
