Raymond McNulty Obituary

World War II veteran, Lawyer, Coach, TeacherSWAMPSCOTT - Raymond J. McNulty, age 83, of Swampscott, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at home. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Flynn) McNulty, and the son of the late Martin & Marion (O'Brien) McNulty. Born and raised in Lynn, he has lived in Swampscott since 1971. A graduate of Classical High School, class of 1943, Villanova University , and Suffolk Law School, class of 1960, he worked as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission in Boston from 1961 until his retirement in 1979. Previously, he worked in as a teacher at Eastern Junior High School and Lynn English High School, and was head football coach at St. Mary's High School in Lynn. Mr. McNulty was a United States Marine during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received at Iwo Jima. A member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Lynn and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott, Mr. McNulty enjoyed playing golf at Kelley Green in Nahant. For many years, he and his wife spent part of the year at their second home in Glengariff, Ireland.Mr. McNulty is survived by his two sons, Atty. James McNulty of Boxford and Atty. Brian McNulty and his wife Kathleen of Lynn; his daughter, Christine Buckley of Swampscott; and his grandchildren, Elysia & Rachel Buckley, Eileen, Maura, Jessica, Mark, Taylor and Mia McNulty. He was the brother of the late Joseph, Martin and Robert McNulty.Funeral from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129) Lynn on Tuesday at 9AM, followed by funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 10AM. Interment will be in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. Directions & guest book www.solimine.com
