Samuel English Obituary

Samuel English, Jr. , 90
1935 - 2025
Brookfield, NH / Lynnfield, MA - Samuel "Sam" English, Jr., age 90 of Brookfield, NH, formerly of Lynnfield, MA, passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2025.
Born on September 3, 1935, the son of the late Samuel and Grace (Boone) English.
Survived by his three children: Stephen M. English of Milton, NH, Marlene L. Piazza of Roanoke, VA, and Christina M. Love, of Tamarac, FL, brother William English of Windham, ME, six grandchildren, who all called him Papa: Briana, Joseph, Nicole, Stephanie, Dominic, Amara, and two great grandchildren: Max and Ani.
Sam was born in Arlington, MA, and raised in Lynnfield, MA, where he would meet his late wife of 63 years, Mary English (Cappannelli). Soon after getting married, Sam and Mary built a house in Lynnfield to raise their family, which Sam took great pride in.
As a teenager, Sam spent his time hunting and fishing, as well as boating and ice skating on Pillings Pond in Lynnfield, and taking summer trips with his family to his favorite summer camp on Ossipee Lake.
As a young adult, Sam served in the United States Navy Reserves and later served as a Police officer for the town of Lynnfield, as well as working for American Airlines. Sam also went into business with his father-in-law, as a route delivery driver distributing a specialty brand of Italian cookies. Many years later, Sam retired from Millbrook Distributors, Inc. as a Field Compliance Inspector.
Sam really loved New England; most of his years were spent in Lynnfield, MA, and Brookfield, NH, with a brief period in Tamarac, FL, but New England was always his true home.
Some of Sam's favorite pastimes were spent outdoors; he loved to hunt and also work around the yard and garden, taking pride in the landscape, regardless of the season. Sam also loved to do so much more, including cooking (especially with all the correct seasoning!), and was known for his perpetual quest for a decent Italian bakery; he certainly loved his desserts and freshly baked Italian bread! Other hobbies include woodworking and refinishing furniture. He had a knack for finding old pieces of furniture and bringing them back to life, a true talent. He enjoyed it so much that he made it his part-time business after retiring.
Sam will always be deeply loved and missed as a dad, papa, brother, and uncle.
A small service for the family will be held at a later date.

John and I were so sorry to hear that Sam had passed. He recently called us to say he had moved to an assisted living facility. He will be missed. Now he and Mary are together again. May their souls rest in peace.
