Wendy Lu Reed, 57

1963 - 2021

Saugus - Wendy Lu Reed, age 57, died unexpectedly on Friday morning at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Melrose.

Born and raised in East Boston she was the daughter of Lucille Reed and the late Charles Reed. A constant advocate for those in need, Wendy was the director of the Saugus United Parish Food Pantry and worked tirelessly to combat homelessness with Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC). She was a former CCD teacher at Blessed Sacrament Church, was actively involved with the Saugus PTOs, she served on the Saugus School Committee for several years, many as Chairman and was the longtime Board of Selectman Clerk.

Besides her mother, Wendy is survived by her three proudest achievements, her sons Stephen and Kristin Reed of East Boston, James Reed of Saugus and Scott Reed of East Boston. She was the sister of Joh Reed and her husband Joe of Saugus, Edward Reed and his wife Jennifer of Florida and was the Aunt of Emily and Anna.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are encouraged to be made to the Saugus United Parish Food Pantry, 50 Essex Street, Saugus, MA 01906.

Service Information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., on Thursday 3-7 p.m. Adhering to the mandate of the state and CDC guidelines, face coverings and proper social distancing will be required.
