William Plourde Obituary

Loved to read, old moviesPEABODY-William David Plourde, age 54, died Tuesday April 21, 2009. He was the son of the late Henry J. and Lena Ann Plourde. Born and raised in Lynn, he moved to Peabody in 1989.As a young man, Bill was active in the Continental Drum and Bugle Corps, the Atlantic Fireman's Muster Hand Tub and the Yankee Doodle Cloggers. A devout Catholic, he was a communicant of St. Adelaide Parish in Peabody, Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Lynnfield and St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Meredith, NH.When Bill finished his schooling, he worked at J. Homestock Co. and then Leavitt's at the Liberty Tree Mall. He recently celebrated his 29th anniversary of employment at the Ferncroft Hotel in Danvers.Bill liked to read, especially biographies and Perry Mason novels. He also enjoyed his extensive collection of old movies and had exceptional recall of actors, actresses and their roles. He enjoyed traveling throughout the US and especially loved Disney World and Washington DC. But Bill's greatest pleasure came from watching and reading about professional wrestling.Bill is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Smiddy of Peabody; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gail Plourde of Danvers; his niece, Deanna Smiddy of Brookline; his nephews, Dana Smiddy of Peabody, Jason Plourde of Milford, NH, and Christopher Coleman-Plourde of Methuen; his aunt, Louise "Dolly" DelColle of Lynn; several great-nieces and great-nephews and many cousins. He will also be sadly missed by his close friends Alex Csizmadia and Jacqui Frasier. Bill had many friends and acquaintances and at times it seemed that everyone knew and liked Bill.Service Information: His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129) Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide's Church, West Peabody, at 12 Noon. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m. Donations may be made in Bill's name to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
