William Studley Obituary

PEABODY - William A. Studley, 91, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Frances A. (Pratt) Studley.Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George B. and Margaret (Gill) Studley. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1942. He has lived in Peabody for the past 61 years.William was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his military service he was employed for over 40 years as a letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Lynn, retiring in 1985.William was a member of National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 7, the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1011 in Peabody, Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus of Peabody as well.He is survived by his son, John Studley of Gloucester; his daughter, Carol and her husband Joseph D'Iorio of Peabody; his beloved five grandchildren, John Studley Jr., Kaitlyn and Derek Studley, and Emily and Michael D'Iorio. He was predeceased by his five brothers and a sister, Joseph, Arthur, George, Kenneth, Robert Studley and Edith Sullivan, and many nieces and nephews.Service information: His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the CONWAY, CAHILL-BRODEUR Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake Street, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the AYJ Fund, to support childhood cancer research, 201 Eagle St., North Adams, MA 01247.
