January 23, 1926 - March 4, 2020 Betty Jo Graves of San Bernardino went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 4, 2020. Because of the coronavirus and the lockdowns the original service had to be rescheduled. The new date for the Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Betty Jo Graves will be this Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Redlands First Baptist Church 51 W. Olive, Redlands, CA. A reception following the service will be held at the Church. The Church's coronavirus rules are requiring masks to be worn inside the Sanctuary. Masks will be available on-site. Betty Jo is survived by her three sons and their wives Craig (Dawn) of Highland, Timothy (Emmy Lynne) of Irvine and Michael (Wendy) of Chino, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Olin Graves, parents Ed and Francis Coyle and brother Dr. Ed Coyle, Jr. Betty Jo graduated from the University of Redlands and received a Master's degree from Cal State-San Bernardino. She taught 25 years in the San Bernardino City School District with most of that at Davidson Elementary School. Her love of her Lord and Savior with her love for children saw her active in children's ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in San Bernardino serving 26 years as Sunday School Superintendent and then teaching in children's ministry at Redlands until she was 91 years old. Betty Jo served 25 years in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and was awarded the Silver Fawn, Scouting's highest volunteer award for female scouters at the time and the District Award of Merit. All three sons are Eagle Scouts. She was involved in the PTA and PEO. Her welcoming and warm heart, giving attitude, enthusiasm and independent spirit touched all who met her.
