Carolyn Jacobs Obituary

November 27, 1957 - April 9, 2023 She was sixteen going on seventeen when we met on a blind date to a Dodgers game of all things. As for myself, I was immediately smitten, and it just might have been love at first sight. I eventually came to realize Carol was the complete package to me: attractive, smart, creative, modest, generous, independent, and loving. Born in Upland, CA and raised in Ontario, Carol graduated from Chaffey High School, and obtained her B.A. and M.Ed from the University of La Verne. She utilized her degrees and impressive personality traits as a highly regarded teacher, mostly kindergarten, in the Mountain View School District for thirty-four years. What a team we made together sharing our dreams, goals, passions and experiences to create wonderful memories for a lifetime. Best of all were the creations of our two remarkable children Aaron and Alissa, and subsequently grandchildren Mikayla, Everly, and Chase, with all of whom she had a special bond and absolutely adored. All who knew Carol know how she cherished quality time with her family and friends, especially by enjoying family get-togethers and vacations, connecting with her teaching buddies, Jazzercising, book clubbing, playing Bunco, reuniting with schoolmates, and of course crafting and baking for all of them. The most commonly used words to describe Carol by her friends and family in recent days have been upbeat, smiling, sweet, kind, loving, smart, classy, lovely, bright light, mentor, special, selfless, and caring. Carol never met a person who didn't like or appreciate her. Her struggles with COPD over the past couple of decades turned fatal and took her from us way too soon. The after effects of a battle with Hodgkin's Disease forty years ago led to a damaged pulminary system and eventually stage 4 COPD which claimed her life on Easter Sunday, April 9. For those of us who knew and loved her, sixty-five years just wasn't enough. However, even though she's no longer with us, she'll always live on in our hearts, minds, treasured photos and videos, and my dreams every night. If we can ever stop crying, an occasion to celebrate my beautiful bride's life will be organized for the upcoming summer.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Carol at MV. She was everything you described and more! I was going through breast cancer at the age of 32 and talking to her really helped me a lot. I am now a 31 year survivor. May she rest peacefully.

Hi Steve, I found this site today (2 months later) after a dream last night and I don´t have words right now for my dear friend but to say, she was well loved by you (most of all) and all of us, and I think that´s why we are all here as humans. I´m so happy I saw her a few years ago xo

Dear Steve and Family,
I remember Carol so fondly from the early days of her career and our time together at Mtn. View. She was the most gracious woman exhibiting the stamina, patience and courage during Hodgkins. She is gone too soon. I agree wholeheartedly with the descriptives of her loveliness and intelligence. She is truly gone too soon. May you and the family find peace in the love she always showed for you and the family. She is at rest. Maria (Mimi Pfaadt) Pfaadt-Eachus

To remember and adore a kindergarten teacher even 35 years later speaks to how special she was. She truly began my love of learning that would catapult me into my own future as a teacher. She taught with her whole heart and I can remember the joy I experienced in her classroom as her student. To feel loved by a teacher is a gift. I am truly sorry for your family. There is never enough time with the people we love.

Many may say she died to young, but I feel one has to factor in how a person has lived their life.
Living everyday to it's fullest, making every day count, filling them with loving acts and helping hands, along with understanding smiles and big hart is by far the way to go.
People like Carolyn didn't have much need for regret, since her time was much better spent on the there and now, helping others and moving life forward. The gift of a sincere, warm and loving simile impowers and inspiries all in it's view.
The world is now a little better, brighter and calmer from her gifts. Positive energy never dies, it only joins forces with all those that came before her.

Carol knew no strangers. She was a valued member of the Uplander´s Club and lead the bookclub group for many years. She will be missed by all. So sorry for your loss.

The way you described Carol was the way she always was. I met her at Mountain View Elementary school when she first started teaching there. I ended up taking her sixth grade class as she preferred the younger ones. She was always the descriptions that you said and you are correct, she´s gone too soon. Wanda

Carol and I were born a day apart and were lifelong friends. We had a wonderful childhood growing up in Ontario and remained forever friends. This beautiful obituary written by her husband Steve, describes Carol perfectly. She was the sweetest, kindest person on earth. I will miss her every day of my life and try to emulate her in all I do. Love and miss you my friend.
