Pastor Daniel "Dan" Jack Wren May 29, 1941 - February 28, 2022 Dan was born in Bell, Ca. on May 29, 1941 to Jack Andrew Wren, and Mary Podsiekoff Wren. His early childhood was spent in Big Bear Lake, California. There he enjoyed his horse, his dog "Chow", skiing, shooting his BB gun, catching snakes, fishing, and his treehouse. The family moved to Cudahy, California, where he attended Bell High School. Dan was on the yearbook staff, learned to play clarinet and alto saxophone, and enjoyed being in the band and orchestra. He was chosen for All State Honor Band during high school, and was honored to play in two Rose Parades with the South Gate City Youth Band. The band frequently played at Disneyland, where he met Walt Disney. He continued playing clarinet and alto saxophone professionally in a swing dance band called "The Bel-Aires" whom he enjoyed playing with for many years. After graduation, he attended Trade Tech College, where he studied air conditioning, and sheet metal. He had worked with his father in the air conditioning field since he was a young boy. Eventually he became a contractor for his own HVAC business. He continued working in the field even after he became a Pastor in 2004. Dan could often be found helping out someone at all hours that didn't have heat or air conditioning. On April 8, 1961 he married his high school sweetheart (Lois). They met in band. She was the only girlfriend he had ever had or wanted, and they had 2 children together Daniel James Wren and Deborah Jeannette Wren. Dan treasured spending time with his family and friends, and the family loved to camp in the High Sierra's where they fished, hiked, and rode horses into the high country. The Sierra's turned into his favorite get away destination. In 1966, he moved his family to La Crescenta, Ca where he joined the local Rod and Gun Club, and earned a private pilot's license. That opened the door for travels to Texas, Arizona, and many Northern California trips. In 1973, he moved his family to what is now Rancho Cucamonga. His own air conditioning business sponsored an Indy Car that raced at Ontario Motor Speedway. Dan took up the sport of racing pigeons, and was a member of the Inland Valley Family Flyers Pigeon Racing Club. He spent years being an integral part of his kids' lives. He never missed a baseball game, ice skating show, or band concert. He and Lois loved to travel. They had visited Egypt, Israel, Finland, Russia, Canada, Mexico, and most of the United States. He started to get serious about his faith in 1981. He led a men's fellowship in his home for several years. He attended several local churches, before attending Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in 1991. There, Dan led a senior's fellowship, and he prayed for and encouraged new believers. He traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia twice on church mission trips. Dan graduated from Calvary Chapel School of Ministry in Costa Mesa in 1999. He became the assistant Pastor, and later Sr. Pastor of Calvary Chapel Creekside in Ontario, CA. He loved the Lord, and enjoyed guiding the congregation to Jesus. He later became a Chaplin with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. On November 14, 2015, he had the pleasure of officiating his granddaughter's [Barbie] wedding. Dan was so blessed and nervous at the same time. All that attended will always remember it! Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Travers Wren of Rancho Cucamonga; his son Daniel (Jennifer) Wren, of Sutton, MA; daughter Deborah (Andy) Miller of Upland, CA; grandchildren, Marshall Miller of Houston, TX., Barbara (Joshua) Phillips of Upland, CA., Abigail Wren of Baltimore, MD., and Ethan Wren of Sutton, MA. Dan was predeceased by his parents, and brother Jack Wren. Dan was sure to be met at the gates by several dogs, cats, rabbits, pigeons, and ducks. Dan will be missed by his family, and all who knew him! Proverbs 3: 5-6 was his hallmark verse. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your path. A Celebration of Life to honor Dan will be held at: Calvary Chapel Upland, 2060 11th Avenue, Upland, California on March 26, 2022 at 11:00am. He will be buried at Big Bear Cemetery at a later date.
