Irene V. Leigh

Irene V. (Ayala) Leigh, 81, of Pomona passed away February 6, 2007 at Kaiser Hospital in Riverside. She was born December 20, 1925 in Monrovia and was a native of Pomona and a descendent of the Palomares family. Irene was a nurse's aid, she attended college, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pomona. Surviving are her brothers, Fred Ayala and Donald Ayala, Jr. both of San Dimas, and Ernest Ayal a of New Jersey; sisters, Dorthy Trujillo of Fontana and Lorraine Rivas of San Antonio, TX; daughters, Diana Navarette of Temple City, Marlene Rodriguez of El Monte, Eileen Cervantez of Pomona; sons, Richard Gomez of Oxnard, Michael Gomez of El Monte, and Joseph Gomez of Pomona; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Ayala. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a vigil beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Todd Me morial Chapel, Pomona. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, San Dimas. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pomona. Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona, is in charge of arrangements.
