Nancy Weatherton Obituary

Long-time assistant to the Mayor and City Council of Pomona, Nancy M. Weatherton, 73, went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2008. Nancy was born in Rossiter, Pennsylvania November 20 , 1934 to Dan and Barbara McCullough. Nancy was a devout Christian and all who associated with her knew that she lived by these principals and was known for her concern, kind heart and her caring treatment of others. Nancy attended school in Greensburg, PA and graduated with honors. After graduation, Nancy went to work for the executives of the Westmoreland Coal Company. On April 2, 1954, Nancy married Bob Weatherton and they had two sons, Dan and Tim. In 1964, the family moved to Claremont, CA when B ob was transferred to California. Later, Nancy went to work for the City of Pomona in various positions and worked there for 24 years and ultimately became the assistant to the Mayor and City Council. Nancy took great pride in the fact that she served on many committees and helped make a difference in the lives of the residents of the City of Pomona. Nancy gave of herself to help many people up to and after her retirement due to illness. Nancy suffered from Parkinson's for the past 12 plus years, but she maintained contact with the city and was always interested in the city and proud of the progress made by Pomona personnel. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Bob, of Claremont; sons, Tim of Pomona, Dan and daughter-in-law Ursula and her grandchildren, Kirk and Kelsey of Rancho Cucamonga. Nancy is also survived by her sister, Judy, who lives in Florida and her brother-in-law, Clay Weatherton and his family who reside in Pennsylvania. Viewing will be held from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Ju ly 31 at Todd Memorial Chapel, Claremont with services being held at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at the First Baptist Church at Holt and Garey, Pomona. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Claremont. Thanks to VNA Hospice & Staff & Pilgrim Place Health Service Center for their kindness and care. Todd Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
