Robert Sutherland Obituary

loving husband, dad, and grandpa passed away on July 2nd at the age of 83. He had been battling Alzheimer's for the past ten years. Robert was born in Paducah, KY to Gladys and Martin Eugen e Sutherland on November 22nd 1925. Upon completing high school in Paducah, Robert joined the Army Air Corp. in San Diego CA. He served in both World War II and Korea. After leaving the Air Corp., Robert attended San Diego State where he earned a degree in business. He had a great career in Human Resources with director roles at General Dynamics, Rockwell International and finally after 15 years at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA , he retired in 1992. Always striving to better himself he earned tw o masters degrees, one from San Diego State and the other from the Claremont Graduate School during his career. Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn, his son Robert Bradshaw of Tucson, AZ, his daughter- in- law, Danita of Tucson, AZ his daughter Heather Lee, of Claremont, CA, his son-in law Chip of Claremont, CA and two grandchildren Chelsea and Cody Deutschlander. Robert also leaves his sister Joan Crittendon of Paducah KY and his cousins Alma Sauder of Payson, AZ and Lorraine Sutherland of Newport Beach, CA. A memorial service will be held at Todd's Memorial Chapel in Claremont at 325 N. Indian Hill Blvd. on July 9, 2009 at 2:30 pm. The internment will be held at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, CA at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd. on July 11, 2009 at Noon. If desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or your local hospice office in Roberts name.
