ABIGAIL GUTIERREZ Obituary

ABIGAIL GUTIERREZ

Sept. 22, 2004 – Sept. 10, 2024

Abigail Gutierrez, an adored daughter, sister, and friend known for her caring, creative, and passionate personality, left us on September 10, 2024. Abigail was born at Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley, California on September 22, 2004, and lived a life surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones.

She is survived by her father, Juan Jose Gutierrez, her mother, Brigida Gutierrez, her sister Heidi Gutierrez, and her eldest sister Janet Gutierrez who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

From a young age, Abigail was an adventurous child, who enjoyed seeking new and exciting experiences. She attended Brawley schools, graduating as salutatorian of Brawley Union High School with the Class of 2022.

She enjoyed riding her bike to her favorite parks, collecting interesting seashells at Coronado Beach, and watching the sunset with her friends and family. She was a fitness-focused individual who set daily fitness goals for herself, and motivated others to overcome their fitness challenges as well. She motivated peers, friends, and family who were struggling with mental health challenges by promoting self-care, positive thinking, and creating a safe judge-free environment for many. She became the founder of Project Empowerment and Let's Be Honest to invite students to take the proper steps towards healing, self-improvement, and mental well-being. She wanted to make sure she played a vital role in helping students feel less alone and more empowered to continue pushing through difficult times. She was ambitious and resilient, ready to bring new ideas to her projects and create something new for herself.

Abigail remained her same rambunctious self, constantly on the go, whether it was for work related matters, or simply going to her favorite restaurants in San Diego and Los Angeles with her partner Tzu-Hsien. She could never sit still to watch a movie unless one managed to bribe her with her favorite snacks and drinks. However, she would always make time for her friends, family, and loved ones to sit still to listen to stories and engage in conversations.

Though she didn't attend mass every Sunday, she attended mass during the week and kept a bible with all her favorite stories and verses highlighted and had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

We will forever miss Abigail, whose presence enriched our lives and made them better in every way. Although, we wont be with her physically, she will always be with us in spirit. She will be forever loved and cherished by her family, friends and loved ones and we will all be counting the days until we see her again.

Services for Abigail will be held Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4 in Brawley. Viewing will take place Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel. Mass will commence at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church on Friday morning with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
