Allen E. Ming, 72, passed away at home on April 3, 2024, from congestive heart failure. He was born on October 21, 1951, in San Diego, CA, and the youngest of 4 siblings. He grew up attending grammar school and high school in Holtville, CA. He joined the U.S. Army on November 30, 1970, and was honorably discharged on October 9, 1971, serving most of his time stationed in Germany. Shortly after returning home, he moved to the San Joaquin Valley living first in Modesto then Escalon. He worked in the winery business for 37 years, mostly in the cellar department, first at Franzia Winery in Ripon, then at Bronco Winery in Ceres, retiring in 2009.

He married Margaret (Gigi) Beeler on June 8, 1974. They made their first home in Salida and later moved to Escalon, living there for the next 47 years. During his active lifetime, his activities included baseball, bowling, golf, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He was known for his teasing, playing a joke, or pulling a prank. After retirement, he volunteered for several years at the Escalon Animal Shelter. At home, he took over most of the cooking, made red wine vinegar and a dry rub. He mostly enjoyed putting' around, going to yard sales in his red 1951 GMC pickup. He was a member of the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club in Ripon.

Allen is survived by his wife, Margaret (Gigi) Ming; siblings, Pryscilla Granillo of Holtville, and Dale Ming (Carolyn) of Sparks, NV; brother-in-law, Joe Beeler (Theresa) of Ripon; and sister-in-law, Diana Beeler of Ripon. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, as well as 4 great-great nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Delores Ming; brother and sister in-law, Teddy and Berta Ming; nieces, Carol Granillo and Lauren Saldano; in-laws, Adolph and Theresa Beeler; and brother-in-laws, Frank and Ernest Beeler.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Ming family. This saddens me. Allen and I went to school together. We raised show steer in FFA together. He was a good friend. I talked on the phone with him many years ago. Regrettably we lost contact. My words are not adequate to fill the pain his family must feel. I can only offer my sincerest condolences.
