CAROLINA REYES Obituary

Carolina M. Reyes, 58, of Heber, CA passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Carolina M. Reyes was a fierce advocate in Immigration and Family Law as well as for human rights for over 30 years. Carolina began her journey in caring for people as a CNA in Ventura County in the early 1980's. After moving to El Centro, she began working as a Legal Secretary and Paralegal for Centro de Asuntos Migratorios, a nonprofit organization. There, a passion in fighting for the underprivileged and discriminated against was ignited in her. Later, she would move over to Family Law, working under Scott B. Tepper for the past 20 years where she advocated for children and families. Carolina was highly admired and respected by her peers and clients. Alongside her professional accomplishments, Carolina was a loving, supportive, and tough-as- nails single mother of three daughters. Carolina loved and devoted her life to her girls. She always ensured her daughters had a good life and a safe and loving home. Carolina welcomed friends and family to her home with open arms and with an open heart. Many felt her home was a safe haven. Carolina was the definition of what a loving mother and grandmother is. Over the years, many of the people she opened her doors to revered her as a mother figure and called her mom. To her peers, she was seen as a cherished friend and confidant. She was very well loved by all fortunate enough to know her. Whether you knew Carolina personally or professionally, she always provided the exact words of wisdom and advice to bring comfort and ease for any trying situation. Carolinas contagious laugh and love for life will always be remembered and deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilberto Medina and her mother, Enedina Medina. She is survived by daughters, Lisa Soria, Cynthia Reyes and Claudia Reyes-Durgin; grandchildren, Danyel, Vincent, Herick, Issac, Isis, and Roman; her sister, Martha Tovias. She is also survived by Felipe Rivera, Albert Soria, Tera Reyes-Durgin, Lety and Frank Gutierrez, Armida Trejo, Jack Bournazian and all of the extended family and friends who held a place in her heart. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Please email the family by via email at celebratecaro@gmail. com for further details.
