CHARLES HUTCHINSON Obituary

CHARLES WALTER

HUTCHINSON

May 13, 1936 Apr. 5, 2023

Chuck was born in rural Tulare County near Porterville, California, to Troy Hutchinson and Janice Henslee Hutchinson. He spent his early years working on the family farm and potato sheds. At a young age, he found his love of the outdoors in the Sierra Mountains, where he would pack in to hunt and fish for days or weeks. Chuck graduated from Porterville Union High School in 1954 and briefly attended Cal Poly, SLO.

On December 10, 1955, Chuck married Mary Jane Cindy Hundsdorfer at the First Christian Church in Porterville. Chuck and Cindy had four boys in five years: Sean, Kevan, Patrick, and Brenden.

Chuck went to work for Imperial Livestock Supply (Walco) on his 30th birthday. He moved his family to Blythe, CA, then Greeley, CO, where they lived for 3 years each to establish Walco stores. He was then asked to do the same in El Centro, and so they moved to Brawley in 1971, where they have lived ever since. In the Imperial Valley, he developed strong relationships with feedyard owners, managers, and cowboys alike. Chuck worked for Walco for 40 years before he retired in 2006 on his 70th birthday.

In the mid 1970s, he started a business with a friend that he and Sean eventually bought, which became Hutch-N-Son, Inc. He took great pride in his family and all of their accomplishments.

Chuck never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. He will be remembered for his stories, jokes, and one-liners. He was a Master in the Masonic Lodge, member of the Elks Lodge, Blythe Jaycees, Navy League, Desert Wildlife Unlimited, Stockmen's Club, Rustlers, and active in many other organizations.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Janice Hutchinson; brothers-in-law, Jack Burgess, George Warden, and Scott Hundsdorfer. Chuck is survived by his wife, Cindy; sons: Sean, Kevan (Trina), Patrick (Dana), and Brenden (Jeanne) Hutchinson; grandchildren: Matt (Temina) Gonzales, Holly Hutchinson, Troy (April) Hutchinson, Lauren Hutchinson, Kayla (Philip) Heacock, and Preston (Cassidy) Hutchinson; along with great grandchildren, Blaze, Blake, Braden, Payton, Smith, Ellie, Ben, and Bo; and great-great granddaughter, Bexley. He is also survived by his sister, Janelle Burgess, sisters-in-law, Shirley Warden and Beverly Hundsdorfer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The greatest comfort during our sorrow was the expressions of sympathy conveyed to us in many ways. We deeply appreciate your thoughtfulness. The Hutchinson Family would like to sincerely thank Hearts of Gold Home Care (Zenny Mamer) and Heart & Hand (Jennifer McGrew Thomason) for the love and care that Chuck received.

A memorial service will be held at Stockmen's Club in Brawley on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The California Scottish Rite Foundation, Attn: San Diego RiteCare Childhood Language Center, 1895 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, CA 92108.

I am so sorry for your loss. Chuck was a great cousin who never met a stranger . I cherish the childhood memories of family events. Chuck taught me to dance at Grandads in the den in the garage. He will leave a empty place in many lives

At some point in time this day arrives for all of us. Rarely comes easy nor are we prepared for such. Chuck and Cindy have always been like family and we appreciated the friendship so much. But know in your times of sorrow and grief that many are with you in thought and prayer. You will be lonely, yes, but never alone. Allow your memories and loving thoughts to carry you through this "rough patch" and then continue in the better times. He will be missed by so many but forgotten by none. Deepest condolences in your loss.
