EDNA WASHINGTON Obituary

Edna L. Washington, 80, of Calipatria passed away September 17, 2021.
She had many accomplishments in her life. One of her significant contributions to the Imperial Valley was through her role as the first Correctional Case Records Manager (CCRM) at Calipatria State Prison in 1991. As the first CCRM at Calipatria State Prison, Edna L. Washington helped to successfully activate the prison through staffing, training, and coordinating vital records to ensure all levels of staff members have accurate information to effectively govern the prison safely.
Edna L. Washington's work ethic was a model for successful management with proof of receiving high honors from the Governor's Office and putting the Calipatria State Prison Records Department on the map by achieving being ranked number one under her leadership.
Edna L. Washington was known to encourage people that crossed her path of working with a commitment to excellence. One of Mrs. Washington's favorite quotes was, You know where you've been, but you don't know where you're going which was to remind people to treat others with respect.
Edna L. Washington will be missed but not forgotten. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Edna had the most beautiful spirit and the gift of giving. She opened her home, her heart and offered the valuable words of wisdom just when you needed it. We shared many hours of laughter and long talks. From the moment I met Edna at my interview I knew we would be close friends and that friendship lasted throughout the years and continued through texting together monthly until her illness took her from us. I feel so fortunate to have known her and to have shared our lives together. I will truly miss here beyond words.
To her dear family whom I have come to know I can not tell you how proud she was and how highly she spoke of each one of you including her grandchildren. My most sincere condolences go out to you.
My heart is truly saddened by her loss.

Ms. Washington was a person you remember for ever. I meet her years ago and she was one of the nicest people you know. Even though I only knew her casually, she would know who I was when we would meet again.
