EUGENE PUYOT Obituary

EUGENE "GENE"

PUYOT

Feb. 6, 1959 – Aug. 4, 2024

Our brother, Gene Puyot, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on August 4, 2024, in Palm Springs, CA, at the age of 65. He was born on February 6, 1959, in Calexico, CA and graduated from Holtville High School, class of '77.

Gene had a deep passion for body & fender work, welding, mechanics, dancing, and cooking, especially while watching Monday Night Football. A self-taught jack of all trades, he was a skilled craftsman whose greatest joy was helping his family and friends. As a young man, he was a member of the Low Reflections Car Club and loved cruising Main St. in his '53 Orange Chevy Belair. Later, he drove his '72 Chevy Truck and other family vehicles every morning and could be seen making his rounds around town, waving and smiling at everyone he saw. Gene was also a talented dancer, lovingly known as "Gene the Dancing Machine" by our uncle Pete.

He is survived by his sisters, Estella Triste (Santos), Mercedes Banuelos (Tony), and Bonnie Moreno; his godson, J.C. Puyot; sister-in-law, Jennie Puyot; brother-in-law, Pipo Lucero; and numerous nieces and nephews, who all loved their tio Gene. He will be greatly missed.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Irenio Sr. and Francisca Puyot; sister, Nancy Lucero; brothers, Irenio Jr. and Angel Puyot; grandparents, Agapita and Angel Fonseca; aunts, Angela Ramirez and Barbara Tolentino; uncles, Porfirio and Pete Fonseca; cousin, Angie Tolentino; and brother-in-law, Mark Moreno.

Gene's memorial service will be held on September 28, 2024, at Holtville Methodist Hall, located at 217 W. 7th St., Holtville, CA, at 10 a.m. Burial will be held privately.

oh man gene,I am going to miss you, as well as the town of Holtville. ever so often I would see him all over holtville really. He always took the time to talk, catch up on family things. he was proud of his chevy trucks, one was a original family '50s chevy tomato truck that he restored several times. he helped me in my own chevy truck restorations. I know that he personally drove more than 1/2 the way to san diego to help a family member with a flat tire, in the rain. He loved everybody, and his only daily wish was to help someone in need. I believe that was what motivated him
