FELIPA WATTS Obituary

In loving memory of our mother, Felipa (Lou) Watts, who passed away on April 27, 2023, surrounded by her family. Lou was born to Pedro and Asuncion Hernandez in San Diego. Lou went to local schools and graduated from Lincoln High School. She met and married David Watts, who was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego. They had four children, Felicia, Vincent, Barbara, and Christine. The family transferred to NAF El Centro in April 1968.
Lou was a homemaker who, after her children were grown, took up babysitting for working moms. She acquired the nickname, "Mama Lou," and to many of those she cared for, now adults, she is still "Mama Lou. She enjoyed traveling with David to visit relatives, trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas, and shopping for antique furniture. She was happiest when spending time with family. Lou was a strong, dedicated, and giving person who was the central figure in the lives of her children and loved her family dearly. In her later years, Lou enjoyed spending time with her daughters and granddaughters, shopping, going to lunch, taking short trips, visiting, and telling stories of her youth. She was one of the girls. They had so much fun, and so much laughter.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Asuncion Hernandez; husband, David M. Watts; son, Vincent Watts; brothers, Domingo, Pedro, Jesus, Joseph, John, Raymond, Paul, and Victor Hernandez; and sisters, Tranquilina Reyes, and Manuella Mendez.
Lou is survived by her brother, Robert Hernandez (Mary); sister-in-law, Frieda Hernandez; daughters, Felicia Gysi (Tom), Barbara Watts, and Christine Weekes (Robert); grandchildren, Thomas Gysi, Megan Martin, Jessica Ramsey (Tim), Justin Martin, William Dykeman, Tyler Garewal (Cody), Alyssa Troncoso (Omar), Wesley Dykeman, and Kristen Weekes Smith (Matthew); great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Weston, and Briar Ramsey, Jadyn and Charlie Garewal, Milo Troncoso, and Riley and Kenley Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and services will be held on May 17, 2023, at Hems Brothers Mortuary, El Centro. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., and services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
Mom, We love you and will keep you in our hearts forever.

Felise, Barb and Chris, I would like to send my deepest condolences to you. You all were my extended family when I was growing up and Ma Lou was the Matriarch, what she said goes but I never saw her get spun. Her easy going attitude and love of family and life was incredible. If you want to see Lou look at Felicia, chill, easy going, purposed in life and it´s a real good think to not upset her. I´m certain she has joined Dave, Vinnie, John. Victor and all the rest who were awaiting her in heaven. Stay strong my trouts and prayers are with you.

Aunt Lou Lou and Uncle David would make it down to our kids birthday parties when our kids were younger. They never missed a party no matter how far. Family was important to her. Rest in heavenly peace Aunt Lou Lou. We love you.
