1935 - 2021
Dr. Francisco Tirol, 85, of El Centro passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Dr. Tirol moved to the Imperial Valley in September 1982 from Erie, Pennsylvania with his wife Thelma and daughter AnnaLou. He practiced general surgery at Calexico Hospital before transferring to Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, where he spent decades treating patients. He later served as the first Medical Director of the Wound Clinic at Pioneers. Dr. Tirol attended medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines and completed his post-graduate training in Delaware and Pennsylvania. He taught anatomy and physiology in the Philippines and at Imperial Valley College. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dr. Thelma Tupas Tirol, daughter AnnaLou Tirol and her husband John DerOhanesian, daughter Carmela Tirol Richards and her husband Gary Richards, and son Benjamin Tirol. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's School, 700 South Waterman, El Centro, CA 92243.

my deepest condolences to Mrs. Tirol and AnnaLou the passing of Dr. Tirol. I was fortunate to had work with him for 14 yrs. He was a very nice and caring doctor and also as a person. He will be remembered by all the great memories left beyond. RIP

I was a patient of DR Tirol's for some years. He was a wonderful, caring doctor. He always gave me as much time as I needed. He was always showed how much he cared.

Mama, AnnaLou, and family, we are so sorry to hear the news of Dr. our heart is braking for you! We loved him dearly. I will miss his wonderful stories. His funny jokes. Him purposely trying to get mama mad and smile that mischievous grin. The Love that you both shared is so awesome. You are all in our thoughts and prayers! We love you all!!! May God Bless you!
