Gilbert Cooper, 89, of Surprise, AZ passed away Thursday, July 1 of natural causes. He was born October 14, 1931 in Boone, CO. Gilbert married Esperanza De La Cruz on May 9, 1954 at St. Marys Church in El Centro, CA. and built their dream home in El Centro. He served the Navy as an Airman Apprentice from 1953-1955 and remained active reserves to 1965. He retired as a Systems Technician for AT&T in 1990. Gilbert was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler. Always supportive of his children and all activities. Donating his time to coach baseball, softball and 4-H classes. Graveside service will be held Friday, July 30 at 9 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with Deacon Domingo officiating. Gilbert was preceded by his wife, Esperanza, and his sons Gilbert Cooper Jr, and Robert Cooper. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Cooper-Johnston and Lisa Bro; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I'm so sad to hear of his passing i have bowled with him over 30 years and we were team event tournament at bowling we came in 2nd in doubles about 10 years ago even bowling Tuesday morning Thursday night saints and sinners he was wonderful man used to be his letter carrier on Glenwood b4 moving to farmers rd house Wayne and I loved him on our team he will be missed i called last year for him to be on our team he said I got sick living in Montana too far away he came with his wife with Freddie grandos and his wife they were sisters always came to post office Xmas party over 25 years I knew him with Paul nowell when they worked together for at&t

It seems that I have known Mr. Cooper my whole life. It was such a joy reconnecting with him when we bowled on the same leagues together several years back. He was truly a nice man. My condolences to Lisa, Sandra, and the entire Cooper family. May he rest in peace.
