Hedy Karen Butler Thomason, 83, of El Centro, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on December 11, 2025. She was the most loving and thoughtful person, a devoted wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother whose greatest joy was connection with family and friends. Hedy was the beloved matriarch of the Thomason family and the unwavering support system for all family members.

Born in Marmaduke, Arkansas, Hedy moved with her family to El Centro, California, where she grew up and graduated from Central Union High School in 1960. She married the love of her life, Harold Lee Thomason, in April of 1961.

After graduation, Hedy began her career at Bank of America. She left her position with the birth of her first son, Darrin, choosing to dedicate herself to being a devoted stay-at-home mother. When her second son, Bryan, entered Junior High, Hedy returned to the workforce, starting a few hours a day at Rogers and Rogers Nissan. Her strong work ethic and aptitude quickly led to a full-time, 18-year career as a respected bookkeeper at the company. She also proudly served as the bookkeeper for Thomason Electric for many years. In her free time, Hedy loved nothing more than spending time and talking with family and friends.

Hedy is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Harold Lee Thomason, and their children: sons and daughters-in-law, Darrin Lee and Katie Thomason, and Bryan Earl and Jennifer McGrew Thomason. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Brett Lee Thomason, Kallie Marie Thomason, Brad McGrew Thomason, and Mark Edward Thomason. Hedy is also survived by her sister, Peggy Richardson; her niece, Sherril Juarez (Adolph); her nephews, Kerry Fowler (Amber) and Zack Tackett (Anita); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Hedy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mildred Butler; her sister, Kathy Tackett; her brother, Kenny Butler; and her brothers-in-law, Brady Tackett, Bob Fowler, and Jim Richardson.

The family would like to thank Heart and Hand In-Home Care for their amazing support in Hedy's final weeks.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, California on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 9 a.m. A reception will follow at the home of Bryan and Jennifer.
