KENNY PHILLIPS Obituary

Kenny Phillips passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Kenny was born in Brawley, CA on February 1, 1957, to Jennie Keber (Lucio). Kenny attended Brawley schools and was a proud BUHS graduate of the Class of 1975. Kenny was raised to know the importance of hard work and dedication to your job. After graduating BUHS, Kenny briefly attended IVC before leaving school behind and started to work. Kenny worked for Triple A Water Company in Brawley until finding his calling in agriculture and went on to have a career of over 30 years working in cold rooms throughout the Imperial, Central, and Yuma Valleys. Working was something Kenny said was in his DNA and even on his day's off could be found working on projects in the yard, going shooting or fishing with his sons, Kenny II and Brian. Kenny was proud to tell everyone he knew that he had a green thumb and especially enjoyed landscaping his lawn.
Kenny was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Phillips II; girlfriend, Tammy Derrick; father, Jimmy Phillips; stepfather, Richard Keber; and grandmother, Bernice Lucio.
Kenny is survived by his son, Brian Phillips (Danny); grandson, Kenneth Phillips III; mother, Jennie Keber; sisters, Yvette Aguilar (Albert) and Carolyn Cherrie (Dan); along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
While we are all saddened at the loss of Kenny, we know without a doubt he is reunited with loved ones and friends that he has missed for so long and is free of pain.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Frye Chapel in Brawley with a reception to follow at Las Chabelas Restaurant.

My most sincere condolences to Kenny's family during this difficult time. I'd known Kenny since 3rd grade at Ruth Reid school. In 6th grade during music he always requested his favorite song be sung " If You Want to Get to Heaven" This song just made his day as it put him in a good mood the rest of the day. Gonna miss your beautiful smile my friend. Now you can "Ease on over to the Promised Land" as the songs ending said. You will be missed my friend.
