LUIS G. CORVERA

Luis Guerrero Corvera, 88, of El Centro passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011.
He was born July 7, 1923
in Culican, Sinaloa, Mexico and was later married to Alicia Nunez Corvera on June 14, 1967 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Luis worked in the electronics field for over 60 years. He immigrated to the United States in 1955. He came to El Centro in 1957. Luis worked for Glenn's TV Radio Doc for 16 years. He then went to work for Holtville Hardware Stores. Soon after he opened his own electronics store "Telesonyc" which was in business from 1976 to 1992. He went on to become a foster parent and worked for Charlie Family Home before retiring.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, and a second visitation will be Thursday, August 18 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in El Centro, with Bishop Roger Rolfe officiating. Services will be held at 12 p.m. at the same location.
Luis is survived by his wife of 44 years, Alicia Nunez Corvera; and their children, Irma (Richard) Preciado of El Centro, Alicia (Eric) Simon of Murray, Utah. From his second wife, Magdalena; children, Alice (Ernie) Quesada of El Centro, Evelyn (John) Smietana of Alpine, TX, Louis Daniel (Rebecca) Corvera, and Eddie (Teresa) Corvera of San Diego. From his first wife Julia, children, David (Michelle) Corvera of Yuma, AZ, Diana (Victor) Chavez of San Diego, Norma (Ruben) Smith of Friendswood, TX, Gloria Corvera, Julia (Ralph) Hernandez, Leticia (Alfonso) Labrada, Alma Parker of San Diego and Luis Alfonso Corvera of Kingman, AZ
Luis is also survived by 13 brothers and sisters; 44 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Perpertual Education Fund, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
