LYDIA FARIAS Obituary

LYDIA NANA FARIAS

Mar. 1, 1928 Oct. 6, 2023

Lydia Nana Farias, age 95, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on October 6, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lydia was born on March 1, 1928, in Tijuana, Mexico, to Maria Nava and Modesto Terasi. She led a life full of grace and beauty. Lydia married Sergio Farias in 1947 and had four daughters, whom she raised with love and affection. Lydia was an integral part of the business community in Calexico. She was very active in the Lions Club, serving the Imperial Valley through philanthropic efforts. She and Sergio established the FedMart store in Calexico and founded an orthopedic clinic. They continued to be heavily involved in the Imperial Valley community throughout their lives. Aside from her influence in the community, Nana loved to host gatherings to bring family together. She held a strong faith in God, praying often for the benefit of others. In her later years, she often beamed at the generations of family that all descended from her, never hesitating to join in on a game, dance, or conversation. Not many know, but she was an avid football fan being a Chargers season ticket holder.

Nana is survived by her 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, along with many others. She always found warm words and reassuring smiles for her loved ones.

Family and friends are invited to attend Memorial Services on December 8, 2023, with a rosary and mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. A celebration of life will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico.

My heart goes out to the family of Lydia Farias, especially to her beloved granddaughter, Janina. I´ve been blessed to be friends with you Janina, since we were in high school. Over the years and many memories later, the times I spent with you at your grandmother´s home were amazing!! She was always so funny and "hanging" with us!! The thing that stands out most in my mind is the most profound admiration that you had for your grandmother and the endless love she had for you. It was a great thing to be a part of!! Your beauty, strength, charisma, creativity, and intelligence are all traits that Lydia definitely passed on to you!! You definitely are your grandmother´s twin!! I know you´re hurting and I also know that you are a strong woman. That being said, focus on the great memories and the rest will fall into place. I´m here for you always. Love,
Tammie

Janina:
My deepest and heartfelt condolences. I knew you and your grandma were super close. It was so nice to have met her when I installed the blinds a few years ago. May time ease the hurt you are going through.

Juli, her sisters, and Mrs Farias were a big part of my younger years. She was, and is, the most elegant human I ever saw in person. My condolences to her entire family.

Diana, Maggie, Julietta, Marisela, and Janina;
please accept my heartfelt condolences regarding the loss of the beautiful "Sra. Farias." That she was a woman of class and etiquette is an understatement. I have such fond memories of her, Mr. Farias, and all of you while we traversed the world of youth and innocence into productive adulthood. Your parents taught me, in particular, the value of working oneself from the bottom to the top regardless of the obstacles in the way.
My love and respect always,
Norma (Balderrama) Sierra
