MARIA SENDEJAS Obituary
Maria G. Sendejas (Nana Maria) went to be with the Lord on April 12th, 2016, surrounded by her family, after having trusted Jesus Christ as her savior. Church services are planned for Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 at Frye Chapel in Brawley from 6 to 9 p.m., with a rosary to be held at 6:30 p.m. at Frye Chapel. Church mass will be officiated by Father Ed Horning at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Brawley on Wednesday, April 20th at 9 a.m. Burial services will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA. Maria was born on August 15, 1921 in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico to her parents, Pedro Garcia and Antonia Garcia. She was 94 years old. Maria immigrated into the United States on August 1956 and resided in Brawley, CA ever since. She married Juan Flores Zendejas in 1947 in Yuma, AZ. She worked as a migrant agricultural worker through her early years and worked providing domestic cleaning services. Maria was a loving wife, mother and grand-mother having raised many of her grand-children, great- grand-children. She loved spending time with all her children and grandchildren. One of her great accomplishments was having become a naturalized citizen on September 23, 1991. Maria was an excellent role model having taught her family an honest work ethic. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Juan Flores Zendejas in 1981, her son Armando Zendejas in 1960, her daughter Carmen Romero in 1962, son Miguel Zendejas in 1977, her daughter Blanca Margarita Zendejas in 1989 and her son Johnny Zendejas in 1991. Maria is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Julian) Lorenzana of Brawley, CA; Graciela (Adam) Guerrero of Brawley, CA; Marcelina (Juan) Reyes of Sacramento, CA; Lupe (Rudy) Chavarria of Brawley and Sonia (Mike) Espinoza of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by her sons, Alberto (Maria Luisa) Romero of San Diego, CA; Jesse (Hilda) Zendejas of Brawley, CA and Hector (Sarah) Zendejas of Chatford City, North Dakota. Maria is also survived by 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Maria was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great- great-grandmother who will greatly missed!
