PHILLIP HENRY COCHRAN SR.
Aug. 1, 1936 - July 22, 2014
Phillip Henry Cochran, Sr., 77, of Imperial went home to be with our Lord and Savior on, July 22, 2014, after a period of declining health. Phillip Henry Cochran was born on August 1, 1936 in Anaheim, CA to Maurice Augustus and Edith Clarice (Demers) Cochran.
The family moved to Imperial Valley in 1951 where Phil worked for his father's custom farming business. He later met his lifelong partner, Beverly Williams, and were married on October 19, 1956. Phil went on to start his own farming business of cotton scrapping while serving in the US Army National Guard for 8 years. He was a proud owner and landlord for several homes and apartment buildings throughout the valley. Phil also worked for Imperial County as a heavy equipment operator and custom welder for 15 years until his retirement in 1994. Those who knew Phil knew his enjoyment for telling stories and his impeccable memory for dates and facts. Throughout Phil's life he had a great love for the history and sport of boxing. He was an avid collector of boxing memorabilia and has written several books about the sport. Phil was also a long-time fan of the California Angels which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Phil attended Southern Baptist Church in Imperial. He was a loving man who was admired and respected as an example of strength, fortitude and integrity.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years Beverly; his sister Diane Warfield of Yuma, AZ; four children, his sons Steven of Imperial, CA; Phillip Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; Mark of El Centro, CA and his daughter Deanna of San Diego, CA.; nine grandchildren, Tina, Lindsay, Scott, Brett, Bradley, Erin, Jordan, Lance, Sean; four great-grandchildren Junior, Bruce, Sada, Aubrey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the burial. Reception to be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Cheval Farm, 346 Larsen Rd., Imperial, CA 92251.

Don't think of him as gone away- his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one... Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. and think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched ...for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much. condolences to the family
