RAYMOND SINGH Obituary

RAYMOND SINGH

Nov. 7, 1932 – Sept. 24, 2024

Raymond Singh, 91, of Holtville, CA, passed on September 24, 2024. Born on November 7, 1932, in Brawley, CA, he was a revered member of the community, known for his friendly, compassionate, and reserved nature.

Raymond graduated from Holtville High School in 1950 and shortly thereafter, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Raymond returned to the Imperial Valley, where he started a family and worked in agriculture. Later, Raymond acquired a position with the Imperial Irrigation District, where he worked as a Zanjero until his retirement.

A devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Raymond's faith played a significant role in his life. He was a family man through and through, often found watching sports or old westerns on TV. Raymond loved spending most of his free time with his family, whom he adored immensely.

Raymond is survived by his children, Maria Ayon, Dolores Granillo, Tony A. Singh, and Tommy M. Singh; sister, Nellie Guerrero; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Singh, and daughter, Cynthia Singh; parents, Phoman Singh and Silveria Chell; sisters, Maryanne Baker, Rose McKenzie, and Beatrice Rodriguez; and brother, Johnny Singh.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 pm on October 15, 2024, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Holtville. A Funeral Mass will follow the next morning at 10 a.m. on October 16, 2024, at the same location. Raymond's life and legacy will be cherished by everyone who knew him.

Uncle Ray was a wonderful uncle. I recall visiting with him at our Grandmothers home on Maple Street. Ray used to just pop in to check on Grandma and she always had a dinner plate waiting for him at the kitchen counter. Our favorite place to chat. Ray always had a great smile for everyone and enjoyed being with family. Ray was a hard worker. He said that in his younger days he was quite the dancer . Ray sailed on the navy ship pictured on the wall and he was the last survivor until his recent passing. His family was everything to him. We will miss you but will always carry you in our hearts.

Ray & Stella invited us over for our first dinner as young newlyweds (ages 20,21) in 1964. Ray talked about the Navy with Joe (a young sailor) while Stella and Dora got dinner ready.
