RITA SEPULVEDA Obituary
Oct. 27, 1965 - May 6, 2025
Rita Sepulveda, born to Juan and Margaret Sepulveda in Brawley, CA, passed away after an unexpected illness on May 6, 2025. She was a beautiful daughter, sister, and aunt who was deeply loved by her family. She attended IVCEC as a child and continued on to ARC to expand her development within her individual skills.
Rita defied the odds since birth. Doctors advised our parents that she would not live past 5 years old, while Rita went on to live 59 wonderful years. Doctors claimed she would never walk, while Rita walked the majority of her life. She even ran track in the Special Olympics and was proud of her well-earned gold medals. Although she had limitations, she was larger than life; giving her all in whatever she set out to do and the love she gave to those around her.
Rita is survived by sisters, Terry Swing and Barbara Deaviani; brothers, John Sepulveda (Mark Leisman) and Michael Sepulveda; nephew, Nick Swing (Melina Rocha); nieces, Taylor Swing (Ian Ndicu), Manon Croft (Morgan); great-nephews, Nick and Nolan Swing; and great-niece Remy Croft.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Margaret Sepulveda, and other close family members.
Special thank you to Rita's caregivers, Carmen Alvarado and Teresa Navarrette, who gave Rita so much love and compassion over the years. We also want to thank
Dr. El Ramah, the staff at Brawley Fresenius Kidney Care, and PMHD staff for the medical care and support they gave to Rita. Rita taught us, as a sister with special needs, to love unconditionally.
Mass will be held on May 30, 2025, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 402 S. Imperial Ave., Brawley, CA., and burial to follow from 10 to 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery, 4700 Hovley Rd., Brawley, CA.
