RUBEN AGUILAR Obituary
Abby was born in Brawley, he attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy and Calexico High School graduating at age 16. He earned two Associates degrees in Sciences at Imperial Valley College and attended San Diego State University in San Diego. He married his high school sweetheart, Maria Elena (Nia) Moreno. They were blessed with Anthony John Aguilar and Jennifer Ashley Aguilar. His adventurous nature led to employment at Safeway, Federal Express, County Health, with his favorite being setting traps and chasing insects for the Imperial County. He loved gardening and had a terrific green thumb only overshadowed by his love of unique modes of transportation. Fascinated by aviation, he enjoyed flying lessons, and visiting hangars. His favored pasttime was reading. Anthony loved taking the scenic route wherever he went. One of his favorite places to visit was the beach, especially at sunset. He is survived by wife, Nia Aguilar; son, Anthony (Priscilla); daughter, Jennifer (Rick); brother, John (Dorie); five grandchildren, Alanis, Alexandra, Aubrey, Eric and Ruben; niece Erica; nephew, Shawn and companion Sandy. Anthony is also survived by his mother, Isabel known as Chavela; he is loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Aguilar in 2012, and uncle Bebop. His optimism sustained him through extensive medical treatments prior to succumbing to cancer. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Rest in Peace with Our Heavenly Father dear Abby. Mass will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico. In the Fall there will be a Celebration of Life hosted by immediate family to celebrate all that Anthony was to them. Other services will not be held at this time.
